Photographer with a simple camera

Beginners Photography Group

Learn • Understand • Practise • Enjoy

Ideal if you are new to photography or simply want to understand your digital camera better. In friendly, relaxed sessions, we explore the basic camera settings, simple composition, and how to move from taking quick snapshots to creating more considered photographs. No previous experience is needed – the aim is to build your confidence, improve your photography and prepare you, if you wish, to progress to one of our other photography groups. General Photography Group

Photograph • Share • Discuss • Improve • Socialize

For photographers with some basic knowledge who enjoy taking photographs, sharing them and learning from others. Each month we have an agreed theme, and members bring along a small selection of images for friendly discussion and constructive feedback. Meetings also include general photography chat, equipment, ideas and planning future shoots and outings. The emphasis is on improving together, helping one another and, above all, enjoying photography and its social side. Follow this link to the group page.

Photography in Focus

Develop • Experiment • Create • Share • Socialise

For members who understand the basics and would like to take their photography a little further – creatively, artistically and technically. We explore different techniques and genres, undertake photographic challenges and projects, discuss and constructively critique our images, and learn from each other and other photographers. Practical outings are an important part of the group too, often combined with coffee, lunch or a pub visit. You don't need to be an expert – just enthusiastic, curious and keen to experiment, develop your photography and enjoy doing so with others. Follow this link to the group page.
