Romsey Archway has several photographic groups, designed to accommodate photographers with a wide range of skills, from beginners to those who wish to take their skills further. Please use this link to see an overview of the groups.
We welcome all photographers, regardless of their camera choice, including those using phone cameras.
What we do…..
We have a monthly theme which helps to focus our minds on which images to take before our monthly meeting. At our Tuesday meetings, we hope to show about three of our pictures each to discuss and receive feedback, including positive critique. These meetings also allow time for general discussion about photography and equipment, as well as planning for shoots, outings, etc.
The themed images can have been taken in the last 12 months, but should be shown at the appropriate month's meeting. We are looking for images that not only fit the brief but also please you, or that you would like the group to advise on improvements. We showed an average of three images each.
The emphasis is on having fun with our photography and enjoying the social side
A certain level of skill and knowledge is expected, as well as a desire to improve. We are a mutually supportive group with differing skill sets and equipment, and always happy to help each other.
For those who need to update their skills or get to know and understand the basics of their cameras, there is a beginners group, members of which we hope will then join this improvers group to progress further with more established members, helping and guiding as required.
We normally publish some of our photos on the Romsey Archway Facebook page shortly after the monthly meeting.

There are many different ways to frame a photograph. One common method is to use foreground elements to create a literal frame. For example, you could position your subject so trees or branches surround the edge of the photo, or you could use a doorway or window as a natural frame.
This collection explores the ever-changing sky, from the drama and atmosphere of storms to the calm beauty of stars at night. Each image captures a different mood and moment in the vast world above us.
The theme of yellow came about from noticing how often this vibrant colour appears in everyday life—sometimes boldly, sometimes subtly. From flowers and buildings to signs, clothing and fleeting moments of light, yellow can bring warmth, energy and a sense of optimism to an image. This collection explores the different ways yellow catches the eye and transforms ordinary scenes into something visually striking.
