January 2026 found us learning about Pairing Wine with food, which was an interesting eye-opener and, at one point, involved us sucking lemons! In February, we were introduced to the Waitrose BluePrint range. As a result, we are seeking out, buying, and drinking these wines with much more confidence. March found us learning all about Wines from New Zealand, which are NOT Sauvignon Blanc. Another eye-opening tasting – including a leftover from our recent meeting of a delicious NZ Pinot Grigio with a delicate blush. The April meeting was an unplanned but very successful edition of 6 volunteers please bring a bottle. Some old favourites were rediscovered (Cabalie 2022 red), and another favourite was updated (The Gov’nor VIP red).
Our May meeting will be a visit to a vineyard in the Test Valley (fingers crossed for a warm sunny evening), and then we are into the garden party season – lots of fun !! The number of members per group has to be limited due to the number of glasses per bottle - Thursday evening group is full, but WAGs II has places and is ready to welcome you. And If that fills up WAGs III will soon follow.
Many of our group walk to our meetings in the Crosfield Hall Annex, and those from Whitenap and N Baddesley take the bus, so no drinking and driving
Archway members are welcome to attend one meeting to see if this group is for themselves, before signing up and paying the joining fee.
