The Bridge group is a great way to learn this fascinating and sociable card game in a relaxed and supportive environment. Bridge is played by four people in two partnerships. The game has two main stages: the bidding, where players communicate through a series of bids to decide the contract, and the play, where one partnership tries to make the number of tricks promised while the other attempts to prevent them. Although Bridge can seem complicated at first, learning alongside others makes it much easier to understand the basic rules and gradually build confidence.
The beginner’s group is an enjoyable way to meet people and make new friends, particularly for those looking for a regular social activity. Because everyone in the group is learning, there is plenty of opportunity to ask questions, practise new skills and learn from the inevitable mistakes.
The group allows you to discover the enjoyment of the game at your own pace. As knowledge and confidence grow, members can start to appreciate the challenge of planning ahead, interpreting your partner’s bids and finding the best way to play each hand. Whether you are interested in the mental challenge, the social side, or simply trying something new, the beginner’s group provides an ideal introduction to this rewarding and enduring game."
