The Complete Works of Shakekspeare (abridged)

On Sunday 28th July members of the Theatre Goers Group  went to the Luzborough pub to see The Complete Works of Shakespeare (abridged), performed by members of RAODS.

As it was an open air afternoon production we had decided to lunch there. It was a pleasant meal in spite of the restricted menu caused by kitchen issues.

The seats provided were picnic benches - not the height of luxury. However, once the play started any discomfort was forgotten as we enjoyed the nonstop witticisms and innuendo.

Some of Shakespeare's plays - in particular Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet - were given a more lengthy treatment; others, like the histories, were rattled through in minutes, but the three actors did a wonderful job of entertaining us with their often hilarious wigs and costumes, their clear diction and their many bits of comic business. For most of the 100 minutes of the show we were laughing, and at the end we felt it had been an afternoon well spent.
