The new theatre group enjoyed its first show, at the Mast in Southampton on the 9th May.
We enjoyed The School for Scandal which was performed with a small cast, some taking a number of parts and in a modern setting which was a little at odds with the language. The play is a comedy, by Richard B Sheridan, first performed in 1777 and its theme focused on gossip and hypocrisy. Many of the characters had appropriate names: Lady Sneerwell, Mrs Candour, Sir Benjamin Backbite and Lady Teazle amongst them.
