On the first Tuesday of April the weather was fine and five of us took part in a gentle walk in the New Forest.

We started from the Tilery Lane car park, behind the Balmer Lawn Hotel, Brockenhurst, and completed a six-mile circuit on good all-weather forest tracks via Denny Lodge and Victoria Tilery Cottage.

Three of us enjoyed lunch at the Crown Stirrup pub near Lyndhurst on the way home.
